Africa and Nature Photography

from Ingrid Vekemans

Fascinated by Africa, Belgian Ingrid Vekemans first set foot there in 1994. She has since been on many return journeys, during which she has captured the natural beauty of the continent.

Although her original focus was African wildlife, Ingrid has also become involved in nature photography in other destinations. As a side-step, she recently made an urban photo reportage about Doel, a village in decline in Flanders. You can find out more about this in the image galleries.

Ingrid currently shows her photos in exhibitions in Belgium and The Netherlands, together with co-photographer Loulou Beavers - see the 'News' box on this page.

Devoted to Nikon equipment, Ingrid prefers to wait patiently with specific animals until something happens rather than focusing on a multitude of subjects or designing and creating a certain set-up. She plans to continue to develop her photography with this philosophy of 'capturing the moment'.

But let's not spend too much time on words... Open her portfolio, maximise your browser, sit back and enjoy the slideshows!
