Atmosphere and Techniques

Do you already have a basic knowledge of photography and do you want some extra practice and/or learn more and more creative techniques? Do the surroundings of the Sonian Forest appeal to you and would you like to make inspiring forest photos there? Then this workshop 'Atmosphere and techniques' must be the one for you.

Workshop details

We meet around sunrise in the woods and walk to a nice spot. Here we will hold a short theoretic session while we wait for the first sun rays to appear through the trees. You can immediately try out the newly learned techniques, under Ingrid's assistance. In the course of the morning we will switch between theory and practice.

You will learn to manually expose photos, capture the early morning light, discover photogenic details, create motion effects and so on.

After the workshop the participants will receive extensive feedback on two photos that were made during the course of this morning.

Who is the workshop aimed at?
  • photographers who already know the basics of photography (relationship aperture, ISO and shutter speed; light metering)
  • and who can use some extra practice in doing this
  • and/or want to start to use a bit more creativity in their photography
  • and who are in the possession of a digital SLR camera (or a mirrorless system camera) and a tripod

There are countless subjects in the woods, so there is no specific lens requirement. To get the most out of this workshop, bring lenses with various focal distances and definitely a zoomlens. A zoomlens is necessary for learning one of the techniques, as is a tripod.

Practical info:

  • IMPORTANT! The participants will keep both days free - if the weather is bad on day 1, the workshop will be postponed until the bad weather date.
  • Multiple exposure is NOT taught in this workshop. There are workshops specifically dedicated to that subject.
  • As always when you’re photographing in the woods or in the field, you have to take into account that there might be ticks present. More information about ticks and how to protect yourself, you can find here: http://www.livescience.com/46160-how-to-avoid-tick-bites.html
  • No cancellation or other insurance is included in this workshop.
